DAY 3: GANGTOK TO LACHUNG (110 kms) (25th Sept, 2017)

The day is here! We begin our ride to North Sikkim today at 8 AM. We first ride towards Eastern North Sikkim to the small sleepy town of Lachung. Lachung is the town that serves as the opening to the famous Rhododendron Sanctuary and the Yumthang Valley. The ride today is a combination of slight off-roads and a constant ascend towards the higher valley. The 110 km ride should not take more than 5.5 riding hours.

Not a very tiring day, but we call it a night early, in order to be able to start early towards Yumthang Valley and then westwards to Lachen.

DAY 4: LACHUNG TO YUMTHANG VALLEY TO LACHEN (100 kms) (26th Sept, 2017)

We start at 8 AM after a sumptuous breakfast towards Yumthang Valley through the Rhododendron Sanctuary. The ride today has many water crossings, but keeping us company through them all is the views of the most magical landscapes and snow-capped mountains. We bet you would stop at every corner to capture pictures and videos!

The 25 km ride to Yumthang should not take more than an hour. We stop for chai at Yumthang before retracing our journey back to Lachung and further till Chungthang. From here, we deviate to the right towards the high-altitude town of Lachen, the gateway to the most beautiful and sacred Gurudongmar Lake.

DAY 5: LACHEN TO GURUDONGMAR LAKE TO LACHEN (135 kms) (27th Sept, 2017)

One of the biggest highlights of motorbiking to Sikkim has to be the treacherous climb to the second highest lake of India- Gurudongmar Lake (Altitude 5183 metre) . The ride to Gurudongmar Lake is one of the most beautiful and challenging ones, considering the sleep increase in altitude and high speed winds. You will ride on roads that have huge glaciers standing high next to you, and with every kilometre you ride, you get closer and closer to that very glacier. After a final 1 km uphill climb over a mountains, the lake is visible to you, in all its glory. You will see three elements in one place. A glacier feeding the lake, and the lake opening up to Teesta River. This is a sight like no other.

The 70 odd km ride one way to Gurudongmar Lake could take between 3-4 hours to reach. We begin our ride back before the high-speed winds pick up closer to the lake, and come back to the peaceful shelter of our home in Lachen.

North-Sikkim, Check!

DAY 6: LACHEN TO GANGTOK (110 kms) (28th Sept, 2017)

We start our day early in order to get to spend time in the happening city of Gangtok today. We retrace our route back to Chungthang and further to Gangtok. The ride should take less than 5 riding hours.

You are free to explore Gangtok, shop for goodies at the Market, or relax in the hotel this evening. It's free day! We can give you maps of places to explore and things to do around Gangtok too.

DAY 7: GANGTOK TO NATHU LA TO GANGTOK (120 kms) (29th Sept, 2017)

The second highlight day! Nathu La. Today, we ride as close as is possible to the Chine Border! The ride is a short 60 kms ride to Nathu La from Gangtok town, and we should reach Nathu La Pass border in less than 3 hours.

A short trek up to the cafeteria, a hot chai, and we get to see the Indo-China gates that open up for people travelling on pilgrimage to Mansarovar. You might even be able to keep a foot inside China, but you ain't getting no passport stamp for it! :D

It's the last day of our tour today. Return to home-base in Gangtok, say adieu to your beloved motorbikes, and prepare for an evening of beer, fun & frolic, but not before giving us your video testimonials on how your ride has been!

You bid goodbye to the Travelling Circus Crew and your local hosts, and begin your journey back to Bagdogra Airport in our taxi at 10 AM.
